Dreaming of Manchester City's Andy Cole

Queensland Roar’s chairman Lawrence Oudendyk has been dreaming out aloud again. Early in the year there was talk of West Ham's Teddy Sheringham either signing for the club or perhaps making some guest appearances. After noting the benefits of Sydney FC’s singing of Dwight Yorke, Oudendyk’s attention has switched to Manchester City's Andy Cole.

While I applaud their ambition, I tend to agree, more with coach Miron Bleiberg’s assessment of the situation.

"I don't know how realistic it is. I think it is a mistake to pursue players from the inflated Premier League market anyway," Bleiberg said.

"My two imports (Korean) Hyuk-Su Seo and (Uruguayan) Osvaldo Carro are probably on 10 per cent of what Dwight Yorke is on, and look at Sydney – they lost 5-0 at the weekend."

"But if Lawrence decides that's what he wants and there is an opportunity, then of course it would be a dream," he said.
